The Scientific Library of the PAAS and the PAS in Cracow, operating within the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences, means 170 years of collecting, developing, storing, preserving and making valuable collections available. Although the PAAS began its activity in 1815, together with the establishment of the Cracow Scientific Society, it was only in the Statute of 1856 when the Library was included in the Society.

This year, which is special for our institution, we would like to announce a competition for a bookplate of the Library – referring to its long history and collection. Moreover, this year is also the 510th aniversary of printing of the first Polish bookplate – made in Hieronymus Vietor's printing house in Vienna for bishop Maciej Drzewiecki, which makes our event unique. 

Celebrating the 170th anniversary of the Library institution, we invite you to read the Competition Regulations and submit your works. We would be honoured if you enriched our anniversary celebrations with your graphic skills.
