“The Annual of the Scientific Library of the PAAS and the PAS in Cracow” is a Polish nationwide scientific periodical issued on a regular basis since 1956 (until 1999 as “the Annual of the Library of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Cracow”). It is devoted to the broadly understood heritage of writing and printing and their functioning from both historical and contemporary perspectives. The subject matter of papers published in the Annual concerns mainly history and its auxiliary sciences, art history (including graphics), history of literature, history of science, book and press studies, discussed by Polish and foreign researchers. Part of papers and source texts, authored also by the Library employees, is based on own rich resources, mainly kept by the Special Collections and the Print Room.

Articles are published in Polish or English. Abstracts, keywords, and titles are translated into English; until 2021, they were also translated into Russian.

The main (original) version of the journal is its printed edition.

 

Articles published 1955-2006 were also included in the Bibliography of the Scientific Library of the PAAS and the PAS in Cracow for the period 1856-2006 written by Małgorzata Kremer and Anna Sroka.
